Starting your healing journey can be a transformative experience. Many individuals seek ways to heal from emotional pain, trauma, or stress. It is a personal journey that requires dedication, understanding, and a willingness to grow. In this blog post, we’ll explore effective techniques to nurture your healing process.

Understanding Your Healing Journey
Every healing journey is unique. What works for one person may not resonate with another. Understanding that your journey may involve ups and downs will help set realistic expectations. In the BeFLOW Community we often describe these peaks and valleys as contractions and expansions. Similar to the labour of giving birth, contraction is a necessary part of the process in creating new life. Applying this concept to our healing process, and trusting that expansion will follow a contraction, can be really supportive and encouraging.
Start by reflecting on what healing means for you. What areas of your life feel unbalanced? Is it emotional, physical, or spiritual healing that you seek? Writing down your thoughts can provide clarity and help you navigate your emotions. Where is your attention called when you sit quietly and reflect? Journaling is an effective tool to track your progress.

Techniques to Initiate Your Healing Journey
Starting your healing journey can be as simple as integrating daily habits into your routine. Here are some effective techniques:
1. Mindfulness Meditation
Mindfulness is a powerful technique to centre your thoughts and emotions. Engaging in this practice allows you to observe your feelings without judgment. Set aside just ten minutes a day to sit quietly and focus on your breath. As thoughts arise, acknowledge them and let them go. Over time, you will cultivate a greater awareness and acceptance of your feelings.
If guided visualizations feel more supportive for you, give our Heart Bowl Meditation a try on our Open Access page.
2. Grounding
Connecting with nature can significantly enhance your mood and perspective. Spend time outdoors, whether it’s a park, beach, or forest and get your bare feet onto the earth. Studies show that spending time in nature reduces stress and promotes emotional well-being. As you walk, pay attention to your surroundings. Listen to the sounds of birds, feel the wind on your skin, and breathe in the fresh air.
You can also explore resting your hands onto the trunk of a tree. Ask it to clear everything and anything that is ready to go, and that no longer serves you. A living tree is designed to draw and cleanse energy from the surrounding environment. If you have energy to clear, these sentient beings will clear and transmute it for you. Be sure to share your gratitude with the tree for this sacred service.
3. Creative Expression
Creation can be a powerful outlet for emotions. Whether you enjoy painting, writing, gardening, cooking or crafting, tap into your creativity. Even if you don’t consider yourself an artist, allowing your emotions to flow can be deeply therapeutic.
4. Seeking Support
Make a choice to lean on others during your healing journey. Whether friends, family, an aligned community, or therapists, finding support can make a world of difference. Talk to someone you trust about your feelings and experiences. Often, just expressing your thoughts aloud can provide relief. When we move energy that is swirling inside of us into the tangible world it shifts and transforms it. What support systems do you have around you? What would these systems feel like in an ideal world for you if you have yet to experience them? What is one step you can take towards making those connections?
5. Establish Healthy Routines
Implementing a balanced routine can aid in your healing process. Focus on nutritious meals, regular exercise, and adequate rest. Establishing a routine gives a sense of normalcy and control during uncertain times. Habits such as fascial maneuvers, journaling, or breath work can also be incorporated into your daily life to foster growth and healing.

Simple Supports for Sustained Healing
The healing journey is every evolving. Consider these simple and accessible approaches:
Engage in Life: When we are in a contraction phase of our journey it can feel so challenging to connect. The desire to isolate is natural, and it's okay. That said, we move through the discomfort so much more quickly when we connect with other people who can honour the process. Human beings are meant to heal in relationship as we naturally mirror for one another. Just by speaking up in a safe space, showing up for yourself in a community that feels aligned, and choosing to engage, you accelerate the process. At BeFLOW Collective we know the power of just showing up. It's amazing how many times people have shared that it took everything they had to just show up a call or class and how much their mood and energy shifted just by taking that step. You are not alone in your journey.
Practice Gratitude: Cultivating gratitude will shift your focus. Try writing down three things you’re grateful for each day. When that feels accessible see if you can write down six things. How about nine? These sacred numbers are aligned with expansion. Continue to grow this list and notice as your perception of life changes. Celebrating the small victories can uplift your spirit.
Speak Intentionally to Yourself: Take time to feel your heart. Self-discovery is a continuous process and can further enhance your healing. How do you respond when you place your hands on your heart and whisper to yourself 'Me Love Me' really slowly. This powerful phrase taps into the pure love of our inner child. The structure of this short sentence is deeply intentional. Speak it exactly as it is written. 'Me... Love... Me...' Notice what you feel. Practice saying it to yourself a few times in a row. Explore this offering each day.
Choose Self-care: Incorporate self-care practices regularly. This can include anything from taking a warm bath, listening to music, being in nature or pursuing hobbies that inspire happiness. It's so easy to by-pass this one. Life is busy, there is much to do... AND our bodies love to slow down, to have our full attention, to be cared for. Our most successful healing starts with intentional self care.
You are Already Healing
Grant yourself the kindness and patience you deserve. Initially, choose a few techniques mentioned here to get started. As you grow more comfortable, you can explore additional practices. Remember that you are right where you are meant to be and healing is organic, never linear. Everything could change in expansive and profound ways in an instant. Your only job is to take one step at a time.
